My beautiful fifi died July 21st, 2009. We bought a border collie puppy a few months later, called her Cody, and loved her like nothing on earth. She's the sweetest thing in our house :) I miss my poodle, but am seriously loving having a little bundle of joy (... and destruction) racing around our house.

a few more things
Today wasn't what I would call excellent, but there was plenty to say thankyou for anyhow.
1. The billboard I saw today, selling a service by Leslie Lively. That name makes me smile.
2. The latte I drank that smelled and tasted like a gingerbread man. Ohmigod, it was amazing.
3. The student nurse who smiled at me when I rolled my eyes at the diabetes educators. You made me feel like I wasn't being stupid, that yes, they were doing something legitimately mockable. Thank you. Also, not seeing Patsy at my appointment :) (Y)
4. The condom wrapper I found at the Point this morning. It made me strangely happy to know that some happy, adventurous couple did it down there :P
5. Finding my Mellow mix CD! Ah, relief :) Also, rearranging my other CDs again, clearing them out, it's all good feng shui I think.

belated 'thank you's
Wow, so it's been a while since I said thanks for anything on here. There has been so much to be grateful for since August - so, so much.
Thank you Shannon, for sending me such a warm, beautiful apology, for forgiving and forgetting, and for being someone so easy to miss.
Thank you Laura, without you I would have no one to share all my fun secrets with, no one to go crazy with, no one to call my best friend. Thank you for showing me just how much love I am capable of.
Thanks to November for bringing sunshine, heat and the holidays. Thanks for birthdays and upcoming christmas. Thank you Blake for teaching me to play poker, among other things - broadening my film watching experiences, opening my mind to the once-dreaded phone call, etc.
Thanks to mum and dad for always believing that I will do great things with my life - you give me reason to try.
Thanks to the perth music scene for helping me find a place, a love, and to feel connected to the world around me.
Thanks Shoki for teaching me what affection is really like, and always making me feel like I'm the one you want.
For my hilarious sister, my beautiful friends, my accommodating bosses, my devoted tutors, the books I have read that opened my mind and heart, the places I've gone that have inspired me, and all the beauty and awe there is to experience if you look.

25th post
Things are working. For the past little while, I've been waking up in the morning just happy about being where I am. I promised myself I'd never take this kind of peace for granted, because it comes and goes, so I'm just enjoying every moment of feeling good about life.
I got my hair cut the other day, and I'm loving the shortness of it. It's refreshing :) and I haven't paid it any attention since before uni started in February, so it's nice to feel well-groomed for once.
There's a boy. He makes my soul smile. I'm not sure if he knows.

tea
One of my favourite things in the world is curling up with a cup of hot tea and a brand new frankie, listening to it rain outside. Tea makes winter worthwhile. It helps me settle down with a tough assignment and do some work. Tea is amazing.
Hot showers are also wonderful. The kind you take at night, when everyone is asleep. When you have no time limit. When you can curl up in the steam after the water is turned off and cocoon yourself in a towel for twenty minutes, just thinking.
Finally, Fifi. My little puppy dog is now 14. She might be blind, deaf, arthritic and malting (yeah, apparently poodles go bald too) but she's the most beautiful thing to come home to and curl up with after a crappy day.
Winter can be nice too :)

Sorry for the long absence. Today's three things are:
1. Driving lessons
2. My hair being clean when I woke up this morning

socialife
1. I got into ECU! I've been to the introduction night, enrolled in my semester 1 units, and Laura's taking me for a campus tour on monday. I have a map and am registered in O-week courses and start on the 23rd. I get to buy stationary :)
2. I'm seeing Louise tomorrow. We're gonna plan for our trip to Cairns in June - exciting!
3. Me, Laura, Shannon and Ben are going to watch the sun rise on Sunday morning. They're all coming over tomorrow night and we're gonna watch movies and eat and talk and enjoy :)

she's back/epicblog
Laura. She finally returned and I've literally spent almost every waking moment (and about four hours of non-waking woments) with her since she got back yesterday. God, I missed that girl. I love her so fucking much and I can't survive properly without her.
We talked last night, for hours, about various things ranging from her time away to my.. ahem... experiences while she was gone. To family, to friends, to love, to school, around and around conversation swirled.
Tom was there, which was nice, he's always entertaining. He was hitting on me and Shannon all night and the attention was great, even though it was purely for fun. And of course Jeff was back, I missed him too.
We went to Heathcoate and maccas and the petrol station for coffee. We went to the airport. We had Christmas in Laura's bedroom. She's home, and I'm absolutely ecstatic about it.

i got slack!
Oops. But I'll just throw some things down now to make up for it.
Laura comes back tomorrow! I worked today so I could go to the airport and pick her up :) We're gonna go road tripping and I can't wait. It'll be crazy. Frankie comes out soon, and Sam is coming on the 18th :) I painted a giant Christmas tree for laura and jeff. And made signs. I went for a driving lesson with dad - down the driveway, onto the roads (traffic and all) - even up to 40km/h! :) I've been working from 3-7 instead of 4-7, so an extra $20 a week which is handy. Shannon and I have been bonding over waffles and paint and gilmore and laura. i saw some kickass criss angel. lolcats and demotivational posters make me laugh.
I think that's enough. thanks again, for everything.

rediscovery
3. I went to Freo with Hannah, Chels and Amanda. It was really lovely, hot but so much fun. They're great and so easy to get along with. Then we went to the city and talked about RO! for a while.
2. I've rediscovered some of the shops in Freo. I'll have so much fun next time I go :)
1. I found paint, so I can make Laura's tree on Monday with Shannon :)

Friday:
3. I went to Angela's wedding - as Shannon would say, I've popped my wedding cherry ;)
2. Mack had a birthday party, which I enjoyed very much :) I got Criss Angel back! :D

faglish!
Today has been pretty shit mostly. Work was probably the highlight. Weird, no?
3. Alex came in to IGA and worked his alexmagic. I love him so much.
2. I finally paid back all the money I owed the parentals. All $22 of it.
1. Chris said to me, "you don't understand faglish... uhh... FA_glish. That came out wrong." He actually said it yesterday but it cracked me up today thinking about it so I'm using it as a thing to be happy about.

go crazy
Shannon came over and we made waffles. Louise called and told me she was taking me to Cairns in June! I know what 'sif' means. Haydn passed his stats exam. Eric texted me just to say hi. Someone on Perthbands said, "What the fuck is this, and how would I go about un-seeing it?" in response to something I posted. Second round offers come out February 3rd. 8 days until Laura returns. Sam gets here on the 18th.
taken out!
3. I just got hooked on a crappy late night TV show called Taken Out. It's addictive, and immensely fun to mock. I can get all the judgement out of my system so I'm not as bitchy the next day :P
2. The alarm went off at work, which was pretty hilarious (at least for me and Jack.)
1. Eric (from the TWLOHA myspace) posted a bulletin that said "I'm glad you're alive," which made me momentarily warm and fuzzy. He's a good guy.
Yes, today was a little dry on Things To Be Thankful For, hence the alarm making the list. But three things is the tradition, so three things I will extract from each 24 hour block.

friends and fireworks
3. Yesterday was Australia day, so I went down to the foreshore in the evening to spend a few hours with friends and watched the fireworks. Our little group was Haydn, Heather, Shoki, Louis, Sean and Marty. Caris was there too with two of her friends, and we walked home together after the show. They were great, and the atmosphere was awesome.
2. I finished Tuesdays with Morrie. I highly recommend it.
1. I talked to Ben on MSN. He always cracks me up, I love him so much. I'm really proud of him too, of the way he has handled breaking up with Reece. He's very mature.

babysitting and such
So this has been a generally good day all around.
3. I woke up to Haydn very gently saying, "wake up sleepyhead" (at 7:30 in the freaking morning, it's not like I was the kraken :P) - but the wake up also came with coffee. Haydn is one of the good ones, he always makes his friends feel like they are the most important people in the world, and that our being there makes him happy. That's rare, and lovely.
2. I babysat for Rob and Fiona tonight. I made an easy $50, and also read most of (then borrowed) Tuesdays with Morrie, an amazing book which I'm sure I'll finish tomorrow.
1. I had a really good talk with Chris (an ex YA.) I love his quirky offbeat-ness, oft-indecipherable (yet patiently translated) gangsta language, and different sense of humour, sense of self. He's an extremly smart guy too, and a pleasure to converse with.

the weekend
Okay, So I haven't been home that much these past couple of days. Here goes, and let's see how my memory serves me. Friday:
3. I caught the train to Whitfords. I was pretty nervous because I've never been there before, but it all went smoothly and Amanda picked me up.
2. I had an absolute blast at my YA party. We played singstar 80s, which was hilarious, and this weird colour game called De Blob. We ate yummy food and talked about reach out! and laughed lots. Hannah is great, and Chels is the same as ever. I got home at about 2:30am.
1. Only 13 days until Laura gets back! :)
Saturday:
3. I talked some stuff through with Shannon, and she's on my side, she always is.
2. I met Heather at Haydn's, and she's lovely :) She's a lot like him in some ways... or a lot of ways... and I reckon they're super good together.
1. Haydn's party was very fun :) It was him, Shannon, Caris, Liz, Heather and I (with Tristian popping in and out.) Caris made some kickass cake, we swam, gave presents from christmas and birthday, and had some good conversations.

thursday's thanks
1. I finally got my license renewed! And it was free, too :) Somebody up there loves me.
2. I had fun at work, and made about 30 bucks too :)
3. I got my Oz Day plans sorted. That's a load off my mind, and I'm looking forward to it also.

Shoes and stuff
1. I went shopping with Mum and she bought me lunch... as well as two pairs of lovely shoes :)
2. I've rediscovered http://www.43things.com/, an awesome website where you list your goals and hopes and dreams in a community environment, and it inspires me to cross stuff off. I also made someone's day :)
3. I think I know what I'm getting Haydn for his birthday, provided it doesn't cost like a kazillion dollars :P
yesterday
Three things from yesterday:
3. I had fun at work. That lovely Italian man came in and he always makes me happy :)
2. I made kickass nachos for dinner, and they were delicious.
1. I watched Friday Night's alright for fighting (an episode of Gilmore Girls). It's a hilarious episode that I love :)

still going strong
Three things that made me happy today:
3. I went to Lila's exercise class this morning and worked hard. It felt good, and I felt virtuous :)
2. I got roped in to helping mum out at the wight loss challenge tonight. I didn't want to do it at first, but now I'm going to try and be extra positive and make the most of it. Hopefully it will remain on the list of things that made me happy :P
1. I called the licensing centre! Finally! I was scared, but I called anyway. As it turns out, I get in under the old laws :) No 6 months of L plates for me!

thankyou
Today was not the best day ever. But I'm going to find three good things if it kills me, so here goes:
3. I found shorts in harbourtown. They're extra comfortable and were only $12.
2. I did a good deed and gave Blake $20 to go watch his show. I hope he's alright.
1. I hung out with Brandon. He's the most awesome cousin I could wish for, and I'm in a better mood for him having been here tonight. Thankyou.

3. Getting my hair cut off. It hasn't been this short in years and it's very light and different.
2. Reading my loveblog to laura and her loveblog to me. Warm and fuzzy. Get me a quilt and some cocoa and I'm set.
1. Shannon giving me the opportunity to tell her how much I love her and I'm always (t)here for the ranting-depression-sad-happy-crazy-nuts-obsessive-manic times. Always, lovely.
So I'm gonna try and be more grateful more often. It's good for the soul and my soul needs some serious looking after this year.
